Blues News From Portsmouth - August 2007

Welcome to the blues news letter for August. Despite the
weather July was a busy month for me and my various
musical associates, but August is promising to be busier

*** Chepstow Two Rivers Festival ***

Andy Broad's Festival trio, Rocks And Gravel, (or what
ever we are supposed to be called) had a great time at
this festival at the beginning of last month. Apart from
the opportunity to play three great gigs, we met loads of
nice people and were thoroughly well looked after by the
organisers. Having announced the change of band name to
Rocks and Gravel during our first gig there we were
inundated with a stream of alternative names, with ever
increasing lunacy and outrageousness, culminating in the

           'Poppadom Twelve String Jug Band',

I can't even begin to explain that in a public newsletter,
but anyone who thinks they can work it out can have a free
copy of our CD, just send me the answer by email.
(Organisers of the two rivers festival and their family
excluded [on the grounds that they know the answer and
have CD anyway :-)]). We've got a load of pictures of the
festival waiting to go on line but the rest of the month
has been so busy I haven't had time. They are pretty good
pictures of the band but they can't possibly convey the
lunacy and overall fun of the weekend. Best gig for ages
thanks again to Tim, Mick, and John, for organising it

Rocks and Gravel's next outing will be to host the
Southsea Folk And Roots festival blues jam at the Florence
Arms Florence Road Southsea on Friday 24th August.
