A final reminder!!! Bring your dancing shoes THIS THURSDAY (November 4th) to The Bullfrog Blues Club on South Parade Pier, Southsea when The Juke Joints appear! This is high energy rockin’ & rollin’ blues from Holland’s top blues band! The band - Peter Kempe (lead vocals, drums, mandolin, acoustic guitar), 'Boogie Mike' Staat (guitar), Sonny Boy van den Broek (harmonica, vocals and accordion) and Derk Korpershoek (bass) - performed a brilliant gig at The Bullfrog back in 2002, and we’ve been trying to get them back ever since, so I’m delighted to announce that they’re back at last - this will be their ONLY south coast gig on this tour! The Juke Joints have been performing storming gigs throughout Europe and the USA for over 26 years. The band tour extensively, including frequent visits to England and Ireland as well as Holland, France, Germany, Belgium, Latvia, Curaçao, Scandinavia and the USA. They were the first European band to play the prestigious Delta Blues Festival in Greenville, Mississippi sharing the bill with Little Feat, Dr. John and B.B. King! They've also shared stages with the best that blues has to offer, including Johnny Winter, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Bonamassa Kim Wilson, Buddy Guy, Walter Trout, George Thorogood, Little Charlie & the Nightcats, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, The Nighthawks, Bernard Allison, and Roomful of Blues, In June the Juke Joints recorded a new CD in Chicago, in the Rax Trax studio, where Lonnie Brooks, Eddy Clearwater, Koko Taylor and Little Ed & the Blues Imperials recorded, amongst many other giants of the blues world. Special guest on the bonus track 'Going to Chicago' is the legendary Chicago blues guitarist Eddy 'The Chief' Clearwater. The CD is released in November - in time for the Southsea gig! Last year the Juke Joints released a live DVD, featuring special guests including T-Model Ford and Sherman Robertson. In 2007 their 10th album, 'Let it Roll' was released on Rounder. The album includes Chicago blues, blues rock, rock 'n' roll and rockabilly, all linked by the band's unmatched energy. In 2003, The Juke Joints celebrated their 20th anniversary with the release of the double album '20 years' , which included a live CD with special recordings featuring harmonica legend Mark Wenner (The Nighthawks) and the Mississippi harmonica ace Willie Foster. The high energy 'Live in Ireland' CD, contains three tracks on accordion, several acoustic songs, the Rory Gallagher mandolin classic 'Going To My Hometown' as well as a few steaming Juke Joints originals.
