Cellars statement re FOR SALE sign on the venue

No doubt the rumours are circulating already, but to put your minds at rest the "For Sale" sign which has recently appeared outside The Cellars at Eastney doesn't change a thing....

As The Cellars Team told us last July, the owners, Enterprise Inns, are selling the site. There is a sponsor waiting to buy it from them, but not at the inflated asking price.... Enterprise Inns have no other offers on the table, so this is just an exercise in trying to get the sponsor to pay more. That’s all, nothing else.

The new operator of the venue who took over in October still remains committed and Steve Pitt is still there, in charge of bookings and running all the gigs.

However, if someone else wants to pay Enterprise Inns the inflated price they’re asking and turn it into flats, that's the venue gone, so the best way to help the The Cellars to keep going is to keep supporting the venue, buy tickets and COME TO THE GIGS!!

If the worst should happen, they'd have a lot of notice and The Cellars team would plan a careful exit, keeping everyone informed. There will be no sudden closures. As has always been the case, the only thing that will guarantee The Cellars closes is if YOU stop coming.....

Gigs have been busy this year and Steve has just booked Mungo Jerry for your "in the summertime" enjoyment - along with John Cooper Clarke. Both shows will be in July, as are shows with James Hunter...and Jon Cleary..and Beach Boys Smile! So as you can see, they're planning ahead....

And don't despair if you couldn't get a ticket for the Isle Of Wight Festival - over the same three days you can see no less than THREE of the top acts appearing at this year's Isle Of Wight Festival on three consecutive days at The Cellars!.

On the day after he plays the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival, there's a very special show with a pretty famous chap who used to front a very famous band....WATCH THIS SPACE!!!! Also, Barking Spider Promotions are presenting gigs at The Cellars for San Francisco 60's legends It’s A Beautiful Day, and another 60's Californian legend, "the first lady of folk" Julie Felix. These two gigs are on the days before THEIR appearances at The Isle Of Wight Festival.

The Cellars have also just booked a gig with outstanding band The Moons, which features Paul Weller’s keyboard player. They're also welcoming Tom Williams and The Boat next month, who are outstanding, and next Monday it’s Mr Fogg, who when he was booked had 20,000 views of his new video. As of 5 mins ago it was 105,021....

So...ignore the FOR SALE sign - and buy some tickets for these outstanding gigs!

Cheers!
