Bullfrog Blues Club - Catfish Postponed - Sons Of The Delta May 5th

Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules, Catfish can not now play at
the Bullfrog Blues Club at The Dockyard Club on Thursday 5th May - their
gig has been postponed until Thursday 3rd November so not all bad news by
any means. We can only apologise for any inconvenience.

However, we're very excited that in their place on Thursday 5th May we now
have long term Bullfrog friends, the Sons Of The Delta making a welcome
return to Southsea to play their unique brand of smoking, stomping and
sliding Delta blues. As usual doors will open at 8 p.m

All tickets purchased for the Catfish gig on Thursday 5th May are now valid
for the Sons Of The Delta gig or they can be used instead for the
rescheduled Catfish gig on Thursday 3rd November, so there is no need to
contact us again unless you have a problem which will will do our level
best to sort out!

Sons of the Delta was formed by two of the top bluesmen in the South West of
the U.K UK, Mark Cole and Rick Edwards. They play a no-nonsense blend of
electric and acoustic blues which includes traditional blues plus new
originals. Their music also features occasional sidesteps into other
American roots styles such as gospel, hillbilly, bluegrass, Cajun and
Texmex.

Mark Cole, Sons of the DeltaâEUR?s powerful vocalist, also plays honest,
uncluttered slide and rhythm guitar and harmonica . His influences include
Bukka White, Muddy Waters, Steve Earle, Little Walter, Dr. Ross, Tom Waits,
John Lee Hooker, Hound Dog Taylor, John Hiatt, Sonny Boy Williamson and
Elmore James. MarkâEUR?s played with or supported many top artistes
including Kent DuChaine, Alison Moyet, Dr. Feelgood, Chris Jagger (Mick's
brother), Roy Wood, Ian Dench (EMF), Steve Gibbons, Mike D'Abo, Phil Beer
(from Show of Hands -and also Rolling Stones session man), The Gutter
Brothers, Richard Thompson, guitar legend Alvin Lee (at the Glastonbury
Festival in 1994), Chicken Shack, Steve Marriott and Chicago Blues legend
Eddie C. Campbell.

Rick Edwards delivers superb deep-south acoustic/electric guitar plus some
very tasty vocals. Rick has opened for some of the greats including
Mississippi Fred McDowell, Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, Boz Scaggs, Paul Lamb
and Connie Lush. In the 1980s Rick lived in Denver, Colorado and toured
through Texas, Oklahoma and California in numerous blues bands.

A visit to Clarksdale, Mississippi saw Sons of the Delta play at a number of
clubs and juke joints including Morgan Freeman's famous blues club "Ground
ZeroâEUR At Delta Recording Studios Mark & Rick were joined by legendary
bluesmen Sam Carr and Pinetop Perkins to record their critically acclaimed
second CD, 'Made In Mississippi'.

In 2006 they played at the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival in Helena,
Arkansas, and since then they have returned to the U.S.A. numerous times
to play at festivals, most notably the Juke Joint Festivals at Clarksdale .

The Sons of the Delta's much loved third CD, 'Tasty Nuggets', features
several special guests including Canadian blues guitarist Mike Myers from
the Myers Brothers Blues Band. It was the Independent Blues Broadcasters
Association's 'Album of the Month' in August 2014.

The next album - 'Red Hot at Peppers' was recorded live at Peppers Cafe
during the 2015 Gloucester Rhythm & Blues Festival and captures the band
in their element. Check 'em out on the video below and be impressed!

Hope to see you on 5th May - I'm coming over from Ireland for the gig, as I
will also be at  the Greg Douglass gig at The Bullfrog  on Sunday 24th
April, when Greg Douglass, guitarist with The Steve Miller Band, will play
a night of classic Steve Miller music with his fine  U.K touring band,  The
Pompatus of Love - which includes Pompey's very own Steve Browning from
Tee'd Up on bass guitar.  .

The Steve Miller Band's "Greatest Hits 1974-78" has sold over 13 million
copies, and in 2016, Greg and the band were inducted in the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame in Columbus, Ohio. Their string of hit singles include "The
Joker", "Fly Like An Eagle", "Jungle Love" (co-written by Greg),
"Abracadabra" . The band   have released eighteen  studio albums, seven
live albums, seven compilation albums, and at least 29 singles.

Greg was also a former member of the Jefferson Airplane offshoot Hot Tuna,
Big Brother & The Holding Company, The Greg Kihn Band (playing on  their
number 1 U.S  hit "Jeopardy"), and Van Morrison's band, and he's played and
recorded with many other legendary musicians.
